CARING HANDS EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH COHERE TO RECEIVE OSF-COHERE GRANT FOR ITS EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAM

March 24, 2022

To ensure that it is able to carry its programs which include the provision of educational support to refugees, migrant and displaced children in Lagos and Ogoja, Nigeria, Caring Hands Empowerment Foundation (CHEF), has been granted funding by Cohere (formerly Xavier Project) in partnership with Open Society Foundation (OSF).

With this grant, Caring Hands Empowerment Foundation will provide laptops to introduce a new class for Computer Studies for the primary school migrant and refugee children in a community school in Lagos, provide educational materials to 255 children and scholarships to 45 children in Lagos and Ogoja.

In response to the news of the grant, CHEF’s Executive Director, Jasmine Asekome, expressed her joy and gratitude saying, “This is the best news we have received since inception because this is our very first funding support from any organization and we will ensure that their trust and interest in us and our work is not in vain.

“I sincerely appreciate and thank the Cohere team as well as the CHEF team for this huge win. We are elated and ready to go the distance, do the work and impact the lives of our amazing children.

“Thank you so much and we definitely look forward to a fruitful partnership and a successful project implementation.”

The Cohere-OSF partnership was formed in 2022 through Cohere’s Capacity Strengthening & Sharing Course, as part of their program to develop a sustainable structure for RLOs, CBOs and other organizations operating in the refugee humanitarian and displacement space.

After a successful partnership renewal in January 2023, CHEF was among the selected organizations to receive grants from the partnership.
